Early registration ends October 30. Top 5 reasons to lock your NeurIPS 2026 seat now
NeurIPS 2026 early registration closes on October 30, two weeks from today. One of the three cities has already run out of room. The Paris satellite's registration page now says that registration "for people who are not presenting authors is sold out, and the waiting list is now closed." Paris expects to release some tickets at the end of October.

Sydney and Atlanta are still open, and NeurIPS has not posted a sold-out notice for either. But Paris shows how fast a site can fill this year, with three cities splitting what used to be one venue's worth of seats. Here are five reasons to register this week, and what your options are if you can't.
Register only through the official sites: neurips.cc for Sydney and Atlanta, and neurips-europe.cc for Paris. NeurIPS has warned that it has no link to any third-party service collecting registration or housing details.
1. One city is already sold out
Paris filled first. Presenting authors can still register there, and workshop and affinity-group participants were due to get their own registration window from the week of October 12. Everyone else is out of luck until the end-of-October release.
Sydney and Atlanta work on the same first-come, first-served basis. Each city keeps its own waitlist, and NeurIPS has said it will "exclusively rely on the waiting list" to fill any seats that open up. Its waitlist page expects releases in mid-October and again in late November, after workshop presenters register. If a site sells out while you're still deciding, you will be competing for those releases with everyone else on that city's list.
2. The price goes up on October 31
Paris publishes its full price table. Every full pass goes up by 100 euros, and the partial passes by 50:
For a student on the full pass, that's a 26% increase for waiting two weeks. Sydney and Atlanta prices are shown inside the registration flow rather than on the public pricing page, so check your exact rate when you register. Early pricing for those two cities ends on October 30 AoE according to the official dates page.
3. Your visa letter waits on a paid registration
NeurIPS issues visa invitation letters only to people with a paid, in-person registration, in all three cities. Without the registration, you can't get the letter, and without the letter, most visa applications don't move.
Time is short. NeurIPS asks Sydney travelers to apply at least 6 to 8 weeks before travel, and December 6 is now seven weeks away. The more important date is October 20. If you apply by then and your visa is later denied or never answered, you can convert to a virtual registration after November 4 and get the price difference back. Apply on October 21 and that protection is gone.
4. Author seats come with conditions
Each accepted paper in the core tracks gets one guaranteed registration, for one designated presenting author, at the site where its poster was assigned. In Paris, those reserved seats are held only until October 30. For Sydney and Atlanta, NeurIPS notes that once a paper's author seat is taken, the session shows as sold out to the paper's other authors.
Co-authors don't get a guaranteed place. They register as members of the public, which in Paris already means waiting for released tickets. If your lab has co-authors who want to attend, they're in the same queue as everyone else, and the queue is moving.
5. You can still back out for free
Registering now carries little risk. Every registration canceled before November 4 gets a full refund, in all three cities. That gives you two weeks after the early deadline to confirm travel, budgets and visas before any money is locked in.
There are two catches. Registrations can't be transferred to a colleague, and if a city is sold out when you cancel, your ticket goes back into the reserve pool and you probably won't get it back. So register for the people you're fairly sure will go, not for placeholders.
What if you miss it?
Missing the early rate isn't the end of your NeurIPS 2026. There are still several ways to take part.
- Buy a Virtual Only Pass. For Sydney and Atlanta, it includes "virtual-only access to the entire conference's live streams" and the ability to interact through the conference mobile app.
- Join one waitlist. Pick the city that matches your work and visa situation, since you can only be on one. Add @neurips.cc to your safe-senders list so release emails don't land in spam.
- Watch for the Paris release at the end of October if Europe is your best option.
- If your visa falls through after November 4 and you applied by October 20, request a virtual conversion through the NeurIPS contact form by December 20.
- Follow the workshops that stream. Some workshops have said they will livestream and record their sessions, and most post their accepted papers publicly.
